I’ve had a few questions asked of me in the comments of my last post. Firstly I’d like to say a big hello to J,The and Christine who I assume are members of my potential electorate. Thanks for popping into my democracy experiment, guys, and I’ll try to have a good crack at answering your questions.

J,The asked: what is your policy on reconciliation and will you be joining in the “Long Walk?
Well, J,The, I am a firm believer in reconciliation (I’m assuming you’re talking about indigenous reconciliation) and have been frustrated by this government’s attitude towards indigenous people and emphasis of “practical reconciliation” which I think is code for “assimilation”. It’s a little too soon to be talking about specific policy as I am currently in the process of formulating all of my policy platforms and they will appear on my website as soon as they are written.

As for long walks, I walk to work every day because I am a firm believer in the environment and, trust me, it’s a long walk to work.

Christine asked: what are your views on the Gumdidgeree Reclamation Scheme and our relations with PNG?
Christine, I punched “Gumdidgeree Reclamation Scheme” into Google and it suggested I search for “Gumdiggers Reclamation Scheme” which I did. Most of the results refer to New Zealand matters which, unfortunately are well outside of my jurisdiction.

As for our relations with PNG I think that we should have good relationships with all countries around the world, even the piddly and meaningless ones.

Wow! What a big week it’s been. It started when I made my first journey into the world of the internet with my website and this blog. I’ve been spending a lot of time on the WordPress FAQs learning about how to write internet and I seem to have got it okay — look at the link I did in the last sentence!

I went to the Melbourne Victory game last Friday and watched a thrilling draw with the Central Coast Mariners. I love going to big sporting events because it gives me the chance to mix with ordinary people. It’s important that I have an understanding of my potential electorate’s dreams and aspirations. I know one thing for sure: my potential electorate really wants the Victory to thrash the Perty Glory tonight!

Well, that’s enough for right now. Make sure you start a conversation with me on this blog so that I can be your true people’s candidate in ‘07.
